Before & After

Dental Implants

What is the process

for Same Day Teeth in Rickmansworth?

Your first step in the all-on-4 dental implant process begins with a free consultation

Step One – Free Consultation

At your free consultation in Rickmansworth, we will talk to you more about all-on-4 dental implants and whether they are right for you.

We will assess your mouth, teeth and gums to determine which teeth are missing, where in your mouth they are located and if you have any teeth that need to be removed.

At this stage we will take x-rays and a CT scan of your mouth and jaw which helps us to better understand the health of your gums and bones which are necessary for supporting all-on-4 dental implants.

We will also have a chat about your oral and general health as this will help us understand whether you are suitable for dental implant treatment. If you smoke, suffer from certain illnesses or take certain medication you may have to wait to start your dental implant treatment until you have given up smoking or finished your medication

Step One – Free Consultation

Step Two – Treatment Plan

We will make recommendations about the type of dental implant work that is best for you. The plan will contain details of the treatment, process and cost.

Step three – dental implant surgery

Your dental implant surgery will take place at Inspire Dental in Rickmansworth.

When you are ready, we will give you a local anaesthetic which will make your mouth numb so that you do not feel any pain.

If you have teeth in bad condition, these are gently extracted at this stage.

Next, our expert team will carefully make 4 or 6 small incisions into either your upper or lower jaw and the dental implants are carefully placed in your jawbone.

The abutments are then fitted to the implants and finally, a temporary bridge is anchored in place to the implants which supports a set of temporary new teeth. You can now leave the dental surgery in Rickmansworth with a new smile hence the name – “Same Day Smile!”

Step three – dental implant surgery

Step Four – Healing Process

Your mouth and gums may feel sore immediately after dental implant surgery, but this can be managed with paracetamol, and rest assured you will feel better in a day or two.

We wait for a period of between 3 and 6 months for the dental implant to integrate with your jawbone. This process is called osseointegration and is vital to ensure the success and longevity of your dental implants.

Step four – Healing process

Step five – fitting of your bespoke restoration

During the healing period, the team at Inspire Dental will create your bespoke bridge containing your final set of new teeth. These are colour-matched to any remaining teeth that you have and are unique in shape and fit to your mouth.

Once this is ready, you will be invited back to the dental surgery in Rickmansworth to have your final restoration fitted.

We will talk through how to maintain and care for your new teeth to ensure their longevity.

Your all-on-4 dental implant journey is now complete, and you can show off your lovely new smile.

What are

All-on-4 dental implants?

Smile in A Day uses just 4 or sometimes 6 dental implants in either your upper or lower jaw to support a new set of teeth.
All-On-4 Dental Implants in Rickmansworth

Just like a single dental implant for one missing tooth, the 4 dental implants are made up of 3 components

A titanium rod or the implant which is gently placed into your jawbone and acts as your new missing tooth root. Over time, this integrates with your jawbone and supports your new teeth

An abutment which connects the titanium rod to the third and final component

The dental bridge containing your set of new teeth. The bridge is anchored in place at either side of the gap by the dental implants

  • With dental implants, you will protect the health of any remaining teeth as well as your gums and jawbone
  • Dental implants are fixed in your mouth so there’s no need to worry about removing your new teeth for cleaning; simply brush and floss as usual
  • You can eat all your favourite foods without worrying about breaking your teeth, pain or removing dentures
  • All-on-4 dental implants is a more cost effective and a less invasive process than having several individual dental implants
  • Dental implants protect your jawbone. Missing teeth can cause your jawbone to shrink and without this support, it can cause your face to appear sunken, more wrinkled and prematurely aged. Dental implants prevent this from happening

Frequently Asked Questions

About All-On-4 Dental Implants?

Patients from Northwood, Loudwater and Hertfordshire choose Inspire Dental for All-On-4 Dental Implants because:
Should I get all-on-4 dental implants?

Only you can answer this question, but it is important to deal with a missing tooth or missing teeth. If you lose one or more of your teeth you not only have a gap in your smile, but you will also notice other problems.

You may find that chewing or eating is painful or uncomfortable. Some people notice a slur in their speech. The bigger issue to all of this is bone loss. With a missing tooth, your jawbone begins to recede. Without the support of your teeth and facial bones, your face starts to sag, making it look more wrinkled, prematurely aged and sunken in appearance. Dental implants act like your missing tooth root and help to prevent bone loss.

Do all-on-4 dental implants ever fail?
6
7

Dental implants of all types can fail but it is rare – affecting about 2% of cases.

Dental implants are made from surgical grade titanium, which is a biocompatible material, so it is hardly ever rejected by the body. There is a slight chance of the dental implant not integrating with the bone and if this happens, it is replaced by another. It is highly unlikely that the second implant would not integrate.

The biggest cause of dental implants failing once they have integrated with the bone is due to the patient smoking. Other possible reasons why dental implants fail after integration with the bone include: poor oral hygiene, an infection, gum disease, certain medical conditions and poor bone quality.

Can I get all-on-4 dental implants on the NHS?
6
7

All-on-4 dental implants are not typically available on the NHS because they are considered a cosmetic treatment. NHS treatments focus more on those that are necessary to protect your oral and general health rather than those that are primarily seen as cosmetic treatment. If you are looking to have all-on-4 dental implants, you will need to have this treatment privately.
