Are dental implants the right solution for you?

Dental implants are the option for patients who:

What is the process for

Dental Implants in Rickmansworth?

Your first step in the dental implant process begins with a free consultation where we look forward to talking to you more about the dental implant process.

01

Free Consultation

At your free consultation in Rickmansworth, we’ll discuss your goals and assess your teeth, gums and overall oral health. We’ll also identify any missing teeth and determine the most suitable treatment for you. A CBCT 3D scan will then assess your jawbone and help us create a personalised dental implant treatment plan.

02

Treatment Plan

We’ll recommend the dental implant treatment that best suits your needs. Your personalised plan will outline the treatment, what to expect throughout the process, and the associated costs.

0% finance is available for up to 24 months on selected implant treatments, subject to terms and conditions.

03

Dental Implant Surgery

Your dental implant surgery will take place at Inspire Dental in Rickmansworth. The area will be completely numb under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel any pain during the procedure. If you’re having an immediate implant, we can gently remove the failed tooth or root, preserve the surrounding bone and place the implant straight away. Bone grafting can also be carried out if needed.

04

Healing Process

Your mouth and gums may feel sore following surgery, but this can usually be managed with paracetamol. Any discomfort should start to settle within a few days. We then allow around 3–6 months for the implant to fully integrate with your jawbone. This process, known as osseointegration, is an important part of ensuring your implant is stable and secure.

05

Fitting your Bespoke Restoration

After the healing period of approximately 3–6 months, our laboratory will create your bespoke implant crown or bridge, carefully designed to fit your implants with precision and complement your smile.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about implants

Dental implants, dentures and dental bridges all have their advantages and disadvantages. Dental implants are often considered better than dentures and bridges because:

  • They are the most permanent option – once fitted, dental implants should last at least 15-20 years on average and with good care there’s no reason why they can’t last a lifetime
  • They look and function just like another natural tooth. Dental implants won’t slip and become uncomfortable like dentures and there’s no need for special cleaning instructions – you simply brush and floss as normal , or maintain as advised by your dentist or hygienist.
  • With dental implants you can enjoy the complete functionality of a normal tooth. You can eat most foods within reason, chew and eat with complete confidence without the worry of your dentures falling out or coming loose
  • A dental implant is independent of any of your other teeth. With a dental bridge, the neighbouring teeth to the gap must be prepared which involves shaving away some of the healthy enamel. Should any of your natural teeth get damaged in the future, this will affect the entire bridge restoration

The pain experienced during dental implant surgery is mild to minimal. You will be given a local anaesthetic during the procedure so that you do not feel anything. After the treatment has finished, your mouth may be sore for up to 72 hours. This is completely manageable with paracetamol.

This will depend upon the type of dental implants that you are having. Usually, a single dental implant is completed in less than an hour. Your gums will need to heal, and the dental implant needs to integrate with your jaw which can take from 3-6 months.
Depending on your bone loss or if you are having an immediate implant then you will require a little bone grafting which is carried out at the same time as the tooth extraction and immediate implant placement in most cases thus saving you time and more invasive surgery. At Inspire Dental Care in Rickmansworth, our lead implant surgeon Dr Mahesh Patel practices minimally invasive flapless surgery where possible which is mostly pain-free implant placement which leads to quicker healing.

In suitable cases, an immediate implant can be placed straight after the tooth is removed, helping to reduce treatment time and preserve the surrounding bone.

Most healthy adults with missing teeth may be suitable for implants. Your dentist will assess your oral and general health, jawbone and gum condition to determine the most appropriate treatment.
