Before & After
Dental Implants
Dental Implants in Rickmansworth?
Your first step in the dental implant process begins with a free consultation where we look forward to talking to you more about the dental implant process.
Step One - Free Consultation
We will talk to you about your oral health and your general health too. This is vital to make sure that you are a good candidate for dental implants.
We will take a CBCT 3D scan of your jaw bones to assess your suitability for dental implants in order to be able to devise a bespoke implant treatment plan.
Step Two – Treatment Plan
0% for 24 months available for some implant cases but subject to T&C’s.
Step Three – Dental Implant Surgery
When you are ready and comfortable, we will give you a local anaesthetic which will make your mouth numb so that you do not feel anything.
If you are having an IMMEDIATE implant we will extract your failed tooth or root Atraumatically under Local Anaesthetic preserving as much bone as possible and then place your dental implant straightaway thus saving you 3-4 months. We will graft the area at the same time.
Step Four – Healing Process
Your mouth and gums may feel sore immediately after dental implant surgery, but this can be managed with paracetamol, and rest assured you will feel better in a day or two.
We wait for a period of between 3 and 6 months for the dental implant to integrate with your jawbone. This process is called osseointegration and is vital to ensure the success and longevity of your dental implants.
Step Five – Fitting of your Bespoke Restoration

What are
Dental implants?
They are medical grade titanium screws placed carefully into your jaw bone to replace single, multiple or a full jaw of broken or missing teeth.
There are three components that make up your dental implant:
A Medical grade titanium screw (the dental implant ) which is gently placed into your jawbone and replaces your missing tooth root. Over time, this implant integrates with your jawbone and acts as an anchor to support your new tooth
An abutment which connects the dental implant to the third and final component- the laboratory precision made bespoke implant crown.
The dental crown forms your new tooth replacement. This is colour-matched to the other teeth in your mouth and emerges from your gum tissue.
Types of
Dental implant in Rickmansworth

Single dental implant
If you need to replace one missing tooth, whether at the front or back of your mouth, a single dental implant is the ideal solution. This is a simple, routine procedure designed to restore your smile effectively.

Bridge supported implant
For multiple missing teeth located together, a bridge-supported dental implant offers a reliable solution. Two implants are placed on either side of the gap, with a dental bridge filling the space, restoring function and aesthetics.

Same day teeth
Also known as Same Day Smile or Teeth in a Day, this option is perfect for those with very few teeth, no teeth, or multiple teeth in poor condition. Using 4 or 6 implants, it supports a complete set of upper or lower teeth, all restored in just one day.

What are the benefits of
Dental implants in Rickmansworth?
Patients from Chorleywood, Northwood and throughout Hertfordshire are choosing to replace missing teeth with dental implants because:
- Dental implants permanently replace missing teeth – they look and function like natural teeth
- With dental implants, you can smile again with confidence and boost your self-esteem
- Unlike dentures, you can eat all your favourite foods with dental implants
- Dental implants protect the health of your remaining teeth, jaw and gums
- Dental implants are fixed in your mouth so there’s no need to worry about removing them for cleaning
- There’s no slipping or discomfort which can occur when wearing dentures
- You can chew and eat again without discomfort
- Dental implants protect your jawbone. Missing teeth can cause your jawbone to shrink and without this support, it can cause your face to appear sunken, more wrinkled and prematurely aged. Dental implants prevent this from happening
- Inspire Dental can help make dental implants affordable by offering 0% finance. Get in touch to find out more about financing
Dental Implants
Are dental implants better than dentures or bridges?
Dental implants, dentures and dental bridges all have their advantages and disadvantages. Dental implants are often considered better than dentures and bridges because:
- They are the most permanent option – once fitted, dental implants should last at least 15-20 years on average and with good care there’s no reason why they can’t last a lifetime
- They look and function just like another natural tooth. Dental implants won’t slip and become uncomfortable like dentures and there’s no need for special cleaning instructions – you simply brush and floss as normal , or maintain as advised by your dentist or hygienist.
- With dental implants you can enjoy the complete functionality of a normal tooth. You can eat most foods within reason, chew and eat with complete confidence without the worry of your dentures falling out or coming loose
- A dental implant is independent of any of your other teeth. With a dental bridge, the neighbouring teeth to the gap must be prepared which involves shaving away some of the healthy enamel. Should any of your natural teeth get damaged in the future, this will affect the entire bridge restoration
Is dental implant surgery painful?
How long does it take to get dental implants?
This will depend upon the type of dental implants that you are having. Usually, a single dental implant is completed in less than an hour. Your gums will need to heal, and the dental implant needs to integrate with your jaw which can take from 3-6 months.
Depending on your bone loss or if your having an immediate implant then you will require a little bone grafting which is carried out at the same time as the tooth extraction and immediate implant placement in most cases thus saving you time and more invasive surgery. At inspire dental care in Rickmansworth, our lead implant surgeon Dr Mahesh Patel practices minimally invasive flapless surgery where possible which is mostly pain free implant placements which leads to quicker healing.
